Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED)
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability of a man to maintain a firm erection long enough to have sex. Although erectile dysfunction is more common in older men, this common problem can occur at any age. Having trouble maintaining an erection from time to time isn't necessarily a cause for concern. However if the problem is ongoing, it can cause stress, relationship problems and affect self-esteem.
Formerly called impotence, erectile dysfunction was once a taboo subject. It was considered a psychological issue or a natural consequence of growing older.

These attitudes have changed in recent years. It's now known that erectile dysfunction is more often caused by physical problems than by psychological ones, and that many men have normal erections into their 80s.

Although it can be embarrassing to talk with your doctor about sexual issues, seeking help for erectile dysfunction can be worth the effort. Erectile dysfunction treatments ranging from medications to surgery can help restore sexual function for most men. Sometimes erectile dysfunction is caused by an underlying condition such as heart disease. So, it's important to take erection trouble seriously because it can be a sign of a more serious health problem.

The Vacuum Therapy Alternative!
About 43% of men with erectile dysfunction use vacuum therapy. Many choose this method because they take blood pressure medications or nitrates, which can be contraindicated with the leading PDE5 inhibitors (Viagra, Cialis, etc.). Others chose vacuum therapy as oral medications are ineffective after prostate surgery, because the nerve endings to the prostate are in a state of shock or injury. Some people use erection pumps in conjunction with oral medications because vacuum pumps get an erection regardless of arousal.

Why Use Vacuum Therapy?

Many men choose vacuum erection devices because of its high success rate. Oral medication is effective 60-70% of the time when there is no nerve damage present. Pellet suppositories are successful 50% of the time. Penis injections are successful 75% of the time, but they can be painful and it’s difficult to determine dosage levels. Vacuum therapy on the other hand, has a success rate of over 90%.
Vacuum erection devices also have the benefit of being a non-invasive solution. About 40-50% of men post prosectemy recover and are able to achieve natural erections. Penile implants permanently remove a man’s ability to have a natural erection. Injections can cause fibrosis, or scar tissue build up which can cause curvature or bending of the penis. Vacuum therapy circumvents these problems.
